CFMOTO vs Polaris & Can-Am: Why El Cajon Riders Are Switching

October 2, 2026 · 3 min read · CFMOTO of El Cajon

For a long time, buying a side-by-side or ATV in San Diego meant choosing between Polaris and Can-Am. Both build good machines. Both have loyal owners. But more riders walking into our El Cajon showroom are cross-shopping CFMOTO now, and a lot of them ride out on one. Here’s why, laid out plainly so you can make the call yourself.

Value: compare the number you actually pay

The fastest way to compare brands is not the sticker. It’s the take-home price: unit, freight, setup, doc fee, DMV and sales tax, with any factory rebate already taken off. That’s the number you write the check for.

Every unit in our in-stock inventory shows that full take-home price. Pull up a ZFORCE or UFORCE here, then ask any other dealer for their out-the-door number on the machine you’re comparing it to. Not “plus fees.” The whole thing. We’re not going to quote competitor prices for you, because they change and every dealer adds different fees. Do the comparison yourself. That’s the point.

If you want to know what goes into that number line by line, read our take-home price explainer.

Standard features: what’s on the machine when you pick it up

A low base price doesn’t mean much if the machine you actually want needs a pile of add-ons. Here’s where CFMOTO tends to stand out: a lot of what other brands treat as upgrades comes on the machine from the factory.

  • CFORCE ATVs come standard with power steering, a winch and alloy wheels across the line.
  • ZFORCE sport side-by-sides run from 800 to 1,000cc with long-travel suspension, and most trims come with a factory roof and winch.
  • UFORCE utility machines are built work-first, with dump beds and 2-inch receivers.

When you compare, compare equipped machine to equipped machine. Price out the competitor with the roof, winch, power steering and wheels you’d add anyway, then line it up against the CFMOTO that already has them. Trims and equipment change by model year, so check the current spec sheet or ask us for the build on a specific unit.

Warranty: US-spec, full factory coverage

Every unit we sell is a US-spec machine with the full CFMOTO factory warranty. Coverage terms vary by model and model year, so ask us for the current terms on the exact machine you’re looking at. We’ll show you in writing.

One local warning: you may see cheaper CFMOTO units across the border. Mexican-market machines aren’t CARB/EPA certified, can’t be registered or titled in California, and carry no US warranty. Our FAQ covers why that “deal” usually isn’t one.

Dealer experience: one brand, done right

This is the part people don’t expect. CFMOTO of El Cajon is the only dealership in San Diego County devoted 100% to CFMOTO. That changes a few things:

  • We know every machine. We’re not splitting attention across six brands. Ask a question about belt service on a ZFORCE or the passenger seat on a CFORCE Touring and you get a straight answer.
  • Low overhead. A one-brand store doesn’t carry a superstore’s costs, and that shows up in the price.
  • Fast service. Most jobs are out the same day or next.
  • We still work on your old one. Our techs service Can-Am, Polaris, Kawasaki, Honda, Yamaha and Suzuki too. Switching brands doesn’t mean switching shops.

What about resale and parts?

Fair question. Polaris and Can-Am have been around the San Diego dirt scene longer, and you’ll see more of them at the dunes. CFMOTO’s dealer network has been growing, and genuine parts are in stock here or a few days out. We carry filters, belts, brake pads and wear items on the shelf. If you’re worried about a specific part, ask. We’ll tell you what we stock.

Trade in what you’ve got

Plenty of riders who switch bring a Polaris or Can-Am with them. We take trade-ins of any brand, running or not. Send us the details and we’ll give you a number before you come in, then apply it toward your down payment. Financing runs through multiple lenders, and first-time buyers are welcome.

The honest bottom line

We’re not going to tell you the other brands build junk. They don’t. What we’ll tell you is this: put the take-home prices side by side, count the features that come standard, and see who answers your questions straight. That’s how most of our customers ended up on a CFMOTO.
